GAITHERSBURG Md. Contract feeder Sodexo Inc. said Monday it had promoted Lorna Donatone to chief operating officer and president of its Education Market division.
Donatone, who currently serves as president of the company’s School Services division, which is a subsidiary of the Education Market, will succeed Rick Brockland on Feb. 1, 2010. Brockland is retiring after nearly four decades with Sodexo.
In her new role, Donatone will oversee operations and strategic growth for Sodexo’s operations at college and university campuses as well as public school districts and private schools in the United States.
“Under Lorna’s leadership, our School Services division has experienced significant sales and retention growth,” said George Chavel, Sodexo's president and chief executive. “Lorna also has positioned Sodexo as a leader in student nutrition and well being. She has demonstrated expert knowledge of the needs of students, parents, administrators and communities.”
A10-year veteran of Sodexo, Donatone also serves on the boards of such industry organizations as the National Restaurant Association, the Women’s Foodservice Forum and the Culinary Institute of America.
Sodexo also provides foodservice and facilities management to the corporate, health care, retirement and government sectors.
