CANTON Mass. Dunkin’ Donuts said Tuesday it has introduced a new bakery item called the Cinnamon Twist for a limited time.
The pastry, which consists of four, bite-sized cinnamon rolls stacked together, is drizzled with icing and served warm. It will sell for $1.39 through June 2 at participating stores.
“The Cinnamon Twist is a great example of our ongoing commitment to bring inspired bakery innovations to our customers,” said Stan Frankenthaler, executive chef for the chain’s parent company, Dunkin’ Brands. “It’s a nostalgic comfort food, full of the aromas and flavors reminiscent of the comforts of home. The Cinnamon Twist puts a new spin on a homemade classic in a convenient way that suits our customers’ busy, on-the-go lifestyles.”
In March, the chain announced the launch of a $10 million ad campaign designed to reemphasize its sweet-treat core products after spending several years focusing on a variety of different food and beverage items, including its espresso-based coffee drinks, flatbread sandwiches and waffle breakfast sandwich. During that same month it also introduced its latest doughnut flavor — Berries n’ Kreme, a doughnut filled with Bavarian cream and topped with strawberry flavored sprinkles.
Based in Canton, Dunkin’ Donuts has more than 8,800 restaurants in 31 countries and reported annual systemwide sales of $5.5 billion in 2008.
