SEATTLE Health-focused brands Organic To Go and Jamba Juice are teaming up to test the offering of organic menu items at smoothie shops in three West Coast markets, officials said Friday.
Over the past year, Jamba Inc. officials have been promising to add new healthful food offerings to the chain’s menu in an effort to boost flagging sales. Under the agreement, Jamba Juice stores in Los Angeles; Orange County, Calif.; and Bellevue, Wash., will test the sale of Organic To Go branded grab-and-go salads, sandwiches, wraps, cookies and yogurt parfaits.
If the test is successful, the partnership could be expanded to more of the Jamba Juice's 749 stores, said Jason Brown, Organic To Go chief executive.
“There are many synergies between the Organic To Go and Jamba brands,” he said. “This test is beneficial to both companies and consumers. By serving up additional delicious offerings for Jamba customers, it further enhances their in-store experience while also generating revenue for both businesses.”
Based in Seattle, Organic To Go operates 33 fast-casual cafes and supplies certified-organic menu items to more than 120 wholesale locations, 15 universities, and nine airport locations. A franchise location is scheduled to open soon in San Diego International Airport.
Steven Berrard, interim president and CEO of Emeryville, Calif.-based Jamba, said: “We’re excited about the possibilities of this test. Our partnership with Organic To Go provides Jamba customers organic and natural food that supports their growing desire for a healthy lifestyle.”
