LOUISVILLE Ky. A day after disclosing plans to open at least 120 stores a year in China during the next several years, Papa John's International Inc. said it hired former foodservice executive Tim Scott for the new position of vice president of marketing for the company's international division.
Scott most recently was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Churchill Downs Inc., an operator of horse racing tracks. Before that he headed operations and foodservice marketing for AMF Worldwide bowling centers in five foreign locations.
From 1990 to 1999 he held high-level marketing positions with KFC, KFC Canada, and Long John Silver's.
Scott's experience in international marketing "will help us ramp up our international operations," according to Robb Chase, president of Papa John's international division.
Papa John's has more than 3,000 units worldwide. The expansion in China is designed to increase competition with the 250 Pizza Hut stores in the country, according to a Reuters report.
