SAN DIEGO The Pat & Oscar’s fast-casual chain has added organic items to its menu for the first time, in addition to other dishes aimed at health-conscious diners.
The new choices include two sizes of an organic spinach salad, priced at $6.99 to $12.99, and organic milk and applesauce on the 19-unit chain's Just for Kids menu. Children's meals that include the new organic side items are priced at $3.99.
Other new health-oriented sides for kids include vegetable sticks, potato wedges and breadsticks.
In addition, the San Diego-based chain has added a vegetarian vegetable-barley soup, for the suggested price of $3.29 for a cup or $4.29 for a bowl. Pat & Oscar’s also has brought back a once-popular Mandarin chicken salad, at the suggested prices of $6.99 and $12.99.
Company officials say the move toward more healthful menu items comes in response to customer demand.
