P.F. Chang's China Bistro has introduced two private-label wines, joining a growing number of casual-dining chains offering their own brands.
The new wines, a sauvignon blanc and a syrah blend, are sold under the label Vineyard 518, said P.F. Chang's, which noted that 518 in Chinese numerology means “I will prosper.”
In late April, Maggiano’s Little Italy introduced its own signature private-label wine, an Italian cabernet sauvignon-sangiovese blend called Salute Amico. The new wine offering from the 45-unit division of Brinker International Inc. was produced and bottled by the Ruffino winery of Tuscany, Italy.
Since 1988, Romano’s Macaroni Grill has offered its own house wine.
P.F. Chang’s said it worked with Wattle Creek Winery in Mendocino, Calif., to produce the wine especially for the Chinese-based menu.
“The fruit for Vineyard 518 comes from the Yorkville Highlands appellation in Mendocino, a high altitude, coastal growing region that offers full varietal expression as well as crisp, refreshing balance,” the company said.
The wines will be sold at $4.50 for a half glass, $7.50 for a full glass and $15.50 for a half carafe, P.F. Chang’s said.
P.F. Chang’s will be celebrating the launch of Vineyard 518 with a free pour and toast at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, for diners of legal drinking age. Because of liquor regulations, the free pour will not be available at units in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina or Tennessee.
P.F. Chang's China Bistro Inc. owns and operates 197 Bistros as well as the 167-unit Pei Wei Asian Diner fast-casual chain.
