DALLAS Romacorp Inc., parent of the 220-unit Tony Roma’s chain, said Thursday it would remove trans fats from all of its menu items by July.
Marc Buehler, Romacorp’s chief operating officer, said all 20 corporate restaurants and much of the 200-unit franchise system would have trans-fat-free menus by that time.
“This initiative is a priority for us in 2007,” Buehler said. “We, as do many medical experts, believe that trans fats are a leading contributor to heart disease and the quicker that the casual-dining sector as well as the foodservice industry as a whole gets behind this initiative, the better off we all will be.”
