Taco Bell pushing 12 packs for $10

As the summer party season heats up, Taco Bell debuted Monday a new promotion campaign for its Taco 12 Pack with the offer of free music by hip hop duo Chiddy Bang.

The 12 packs, a box of beef tacos with crispy or soft tortillas priced at a recommended $10, are being aggressively promoted by the Irvine, Calif.-based chain as the new “must-have party accessory” of the summer.

Starting Monday and for a limited time, Facebook friends can download a free exclusive mix of Chiddy Bang’s “The Good Life.” Chiddy Bang will also be featured in national television commercials — which is a first for Taco Bell’s ongoing “Feed the Beat” program, an initiative that supports up-and-coming artists.

“Summer is an exciting time of the year: school is out, the weather is warm, people are staying out late and enjoying time with friends – and it’s the perfect time to bring the Taco 12 Pack and Chiddy Bang’s music together to make our fans the life of the party,” David Ovens, Taco Bell Corp.’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement.

As part of multi-channel promotions for the 12-pack, Taco Bell will be streaming video of a Chiddy Bang performance in their home town of Philadelphia scheduled for May 25. Taco Bell Facebook fans will also have an opportunity to win free tickets to the event in an online drawing running May 18 and 19.

With about 5,600 units in the U.S., the Taco Bell chain is a subsidiary of Louisville, Ky.-based Yum! Brands Inc.
