DALLAS Taco Bueno said it was adding flame grills to its stores and expanding its menu with grilled chicken and steak items.
The 190-unit chain said it expected to complete the rollout by the end of the month. The new flame-grilled menu items will include Fajita Tacos, Gourmet Burritos and Gourmet Bowls.
Scott Terraciano-Spence, senior vice president of marketing for the chain, said: “Many other QSR brands advertise grilled products, but all too often the 'grilling' takes place in a faraway factory. At Bueno, the new fajita steak and chicken are cooked over fire all day long at each of our units.”
Taco Bueno tested the grills at stores in the Dallas area and in Oklahoma, where the chain said it found “a marked sales increase.”
The chain also said it was adding two low-fat vegetarian side items, black beans and cilantro-lime rice.
Founded in 1967 in Abilene, Texas, Taco Bueno now has stores in Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
