Whataburger is offering one customer 60 years of free hamburgers as it launches its “Tell Us Why You're Our Biggest Fan” online contest.
The 700-unit burger chain, based in San Antonio, is also offering the contest winner a trip to the Whataburger convention in Dallas.
Whataburger launched the contest Wednesday, getting fans to
submit either videos or essays with photos at
www.whataburger.com. The contest came a day after the chain offered free burgers to thousands of people who visited units wearing the chain’s signature orange color.
"Whataburger has been a part of local communities since 1950,” said Tom Dobson, the chain’s chairman and chief executive. “And through the years we've heard funny, heartwarming and touching stories about loyal fans – fanatics, really – who love Whataburger.”
The contest closes on Aug. 31 and winners will be announced on Sept. 15. The first place winner will receive a prize package worth more than $10,000, including a gift card for "60 Years of
Whataburger." Second prize is 60 months of free Whataburgers, and third prize is 60 months of free breakfast on a bun at Whataburger.
Whataburger was founded in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950 and now has units in 10 states.
