Nearly 100 restaurant executives participated in a short survey covering business trends so far in 2011. Sent to subscribers of NRN a.m., the daily e-newsletter from Nation’s Restaurant News, results were calculated April 19-21, and provide a snapshot of sentiment surrounding sales, profit, industry challenges and hiring trends.
More than half of the respondents said first-quarter sales were better than first-quarter sales in 2010. At the outset of the year, 70 percent of respondents predicted sales would be better in 2011.
