Aleppo pepper has a moderate heat level and a fruity taste with an undertone that’s slightly salty and reminiscent of cumin. It can be used as a substitute for paprika or red pepper.
Aleppo pepper is in the Inception stage. It’s considered a premium ingredient that can be found mostly on fine-dining menus and at independent restaurants.
