Shake Shack is closing nine underperforming units. The company said in a securities filing that the restaurants in California, Ohio, and Texas are not doing well because of changes in the trade areas and, in some cases, cannibalization by other nearby Shake Shacks.

Hooters is in trouble again. The latest sign comes courtesy of a $1.7 million lawsuit lobbed against the chain for allegedly failing to meet sponsorship payments to NASCAR’s Hendrick Motorsports.

Checkers and Rally’s has a new CEO. The drive-thru burger chains on Wednesday named Chris Tebben its new chief executive.

The Habit Burger Grill is now simply Habit Burger & Grill. The Yum Brands’ chain announced the tweak to its name — dropping the ‘The’ and adding an ampersand. The company said the change better illustrates that Habit offers menu variety beyond burgers, including its signature hand-spun milkshakes, tempura green beans, salads, and sandwiches.
