Subway prototype, restaurant M&A, Starbucks delivery

Subway unveiled a new restaurant design on Tuesday. The fast-food sandwich giant unveiled what it calls fresh forward 2.0, an update to a design it released in 2017. The prototype is designed to improve convenience and ambiance while paving the way for technologies in test such as self-order kiosks.

Expect a better year for restaurant mergers and acquisitions in 2025. That’s at least according to investment bankers and lenders at the Restaurant Finance and Development Conference this week. Experts expect at least some companies to go public next year, and perhaps some companies to go private, as conditions improve and interest rates continue to ease.

Starbucks is adding delivery options to its app for the first time. The coffee chain is working with DoorDash to facilitate the first-party in-app delivery options for U.S. and Canadian customers at participating Starbucks restaurants.
