Trending this week: $2.2 trillion COVID relief bill includes $120 billion for restaurants

Pizza Hut LLC pressures NPC International to delay auction of 900 Pizza Hut franchise locations

This week on Nation’s Restaurant News, Nancy Pelosi, introduced a $2.2 trillion stimulus bill for coronavirus relief which includes $120 billion for restaurants.

“The revised version of the HEROES Act is the best plan Congress has put forward to protect the livelihoods of the 11 million people employed by independent restaurants across the country,” the coalition said in a statement released late Monday. “Independent restaurants are out of options, and by providing flexible grants based on revenue losses to independent restaurants who need them, Congress can ensure many businesses have a shot at surviving colder weather and getting through the pandemic.”

Menu Tracker also made it on our top 10 trending list with new items from Chipotle Mexican Grill and Carl’s Jr. & Hardee’s and more. Carl’s Jr. & Hardee’s added two new items to their menus — the Prime Rib and Cheddar Angus Thickburger and Prime Rib Biscuit. Chipotle Mexican Grill also reintroduced Carne Asada. It was first introduced last September and is now back starting with exclusive availability online until Sept. 28 when it rolls out nationally for an unspecified limited time.
