CANTON Mass. Dunkin’ Brands Inc., parent of the Dunkin’ Donuts quick-service bakery chain, said it would roll out a line of “Better-for-You” menu items this summer.
Joe Scafido, Dunkin's chief creative and innovation officer, said the new line would "span numerous health notes. Some will be reduced sugar, [others] lower fat; it will really run the gamut. There’s something for every category.”
Dunkin' will start the rollout in June and continue introducing new items throughout the summer. More healthful beverages will kick off the new line, company officials indicated.
Dunkin' Donuts currently offers light versions of its lattes as well as a reduced-fat blueberry muffin, according to the chain's website.
Jon Luther, Dunkin' Brand's president and chief executive, said: “The country is now ready for this. People are very [health] conscious today. Over the next 10 or 15 years, I think you’ll see that trend evolve pretty significantly and we’re prepared for it.”
Dunkin' Brands, based here, also is parent to the Baskin-Robbins ice cream chain.
