GOLDEN Colo. Einstein Bros. Bagels is testing new pizza bagels in 28 Denver area restaurants and marketing them as afternoon snacks or lunch items. A variety of topping combinations are offered on open-face bagels that are baked in new high-speed ovens. Flavors include cheesy garlic herb; andouille sausage; spinach and mushroom; and pepperoni and cheese.
Made-to-order preparation time is less than four minutes, said Chad Thompson, senior director of research and development for Einstein's parent company, New World Restaurant Group.
