Wienerschnitzel drops corn dog price

IRVINE, Calif. With value still a key motivation for consumers, the Wienerschnitzel hot dog chain said it has cut the price on its popular corn dog by 20 cents.

The 351-unit chain owned by Irvine, Calif.-based Galardi Group said Wednesday it has become the “home of the everyday 79 cent corn dog, every darn day” by dropping the price on the signature item, which previously was 99 cents.

The new pricing for the corn dog, which is made with chicken, will be supported with television and radio ads, direct mail, social media and in-store, point-of-purchase materials, the chain said.

“Wienerschnitzel is known for our delicious corn dogs, which our guests crave and love to create new topping combinations for, including our signature chili,” said Tom Amberger, vice president of marketing for Wienerschnitzel. “We’re proud to offer this item ‘every darn day’ at a terrific value.”
