Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. named James M. Schmidt to the newly created post of chief operating officer at the Minneapolis-based casual-dining company.
Schmidt has worked at Buffalo Wild Wings since 2002, most recently as executive vice president and general counsel.
In his new role, Schmidt will be responsible for day-to-day operations at the 739-unit chain and will report to president and chief executive Sally Smith.
“Jim is a strong leader with a deep understanding of the Buffalo Wild Wings organization,” Smith said in a statement. “Over the past few years, Jim led our new restaurant opening process and had responsibility for real estate and development, as well as leading various cross-functional initiatives. We look forward to his continued contributions in his new position.”
Smith added that Schmidt’s appointment would allow her to focus more time on overall strategy and growth of the brand.
Buffalo Wild Wings operates or franchises its restaurants in 44 states.
