ATLANTA Chick-fil-A said Monday it began offering a low-fat yogurt parfait at all 1,490 of its locations.
The parfait comes with vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries and topped with a granola blend or chocolate cookie crumbs. The granola version has 240 calories while the cookie-crumb option has 200 calories.
The parfait, which is available all day, sells for $2.25.
Chick-fil-A officials said the addition of the Yogurt Parfait to the menu is the result of consumer feedback requesting more healthful items for breakfast.
"With the addition of the Yogurt Parfait, we believe we now have a breakfast menu with broader appeal to a more diverse customer base," said Woody Faulk, Chick-fil-A’s vice president of brand strategy and design, "from our signature Chicken Biscuit for the more hearty appetite to the Cinnamon Cluster for those craving something sweet in the morning to the health-minded customer who now has an additional choice of a Yogurt Parfait."
He added that customers also have been ordering the parfait as a snack or dessert option.
Chick-fil-A first began offering breakfast in 1986. Its morning daypart menu items today account for 17 percent of total sales, the chain said.
