LOUISVILLE Ky. Papa John’s International Inc. announced on Friday the promotions of three officers on its management team. Tim North is now senior vice president of North American operations, Annette Calhoun is now vice president of human resources, and Dennis Gerstner is now a division vice president, overseeing the North division.
“We are pleased to round out our management team with these talented individuals,” Jude Thompson, president and chief operating officer of Papa John’s, said in a statement. “Tim North and Dennis Gerstner are both talented operators who know the Papa John’s system well and, quite simply, know how to run great pizza restaurants. Annette Calhoun knows our culture, and I am confident she will do a great job leading our HR team.”
North will report to president of global operations Bill Mitchell, and Gerstner will report to North. Calhoun will report to Thompson.
North joined Papa John’s as vice president of the North division in 2005, following several years with Pizza Hut. He now will oversee all corporate and franchise operations in the United States and Canada.
Gerstner has been with Papa John’s since 2001, and he most recently had been vice president of nontraditional operations since 2006, guiding expansion and operations in stadiums and other nontraditional venues.
Calhoun joined Papa John’s in 1999. Most recently, she had been director of benefits, a post she’d held since 2005.
The promotions come about a week after the company announced layoffs of 35 headquarters staffers, about 6 percent of its more than 600 Louisville-based employees. While the pizza segment has dealt with negative economic results, Papa John’s same-store sales grew 0.1 percent in its latest quarter.
