VANCOUVER Wash. Burgerville chief operating officer Jeff Harvey has been promoted to vice president and chief executive of the regional chain. He succeeds Tom Mears, who will move into the chairman’s post at parent company The Holland Inc., officials said Wednesday.
Harvey will be the first nonfamily member to head the family-run chain, which operates 39 quick-service restaurants throughout the Pacific Northwest.
“The timing is right for me to pass the torch,” said Mears, who added that he would still be actively involved in the company. “This gives me an excellent opportunity to connect more with the communities that Burgerville serves and expand our contribution to thriving local communities as a responsible, sustainable business.”
Burgerville is known for its environmentally friendly policies, including the use of wind power, recycling and composting programs, as well as the use of local ingredients.
Harvey’s previous position will be filled by a chief operating “team” that includes chief financial officer Kyle Dean, chief development officer Tara Wefers, and chief talent officer Janice Williams.
