Hard Rock’s smoothie and new dessert to benefit breast cancer campaign

For Hard Rock’s annual “Pinktober” fundraiser, a new dessert item and special beverage offerings at Hard Rock Cafes will collect funds to benefit breast cancer charities and raise consciousness.

The Cookies ‘n’ Hope, a dessert specifically designed for Pinktober, will only be available in October.

The cookie dessert, a sort of ice cream sandwich, is prepared with double chocolate cookies filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with pink colored candy coated chocolate, sugar sprinkles and decorated with pink ribbon to symbolize breast cancer awareness. It sells for between $4.45 and $4.75.

The Wildberry Smoothie is a core menu item that will be in the spotlight for October with a special pink cherry garnish and can be served in a 20- to 24-ounce souvenir glass for $12.99 to $14.99, depending on the location.

The non-alcoholic frozen beverage is made by blending “made-from-scratch” piña colada mix with fresh bananas, fresh squeezed orange juice and Wildberry syrup. The glass comes with the drink and the beverage is also sold in smaller 12- and 16-ounce glasses for $7 to $8.

Hard Rock will feature four special Pinktober cocktails: Pop Princess, The Hot Pink Fusion, Pop Diva and Tropical Ta Tas.

During October, all Hard Rock Cafe beverages are garnished with a pink cherry.

“The cherry was developed specifically for the promotion,” said Cindy Busi, Hard Rock’s worldwide director of beverage, who designed the dessert and smoothie. “We’re doing that pink cherry worldwide to get the message out that we back this cause tremendously. This hits near and dear with us.”

A portion of the proceeds from the designated items will be donated to various breast cancer charities. Based in Orlando, Fla., Hard Rock International has a total of 169 venues in 52 countries.
