Chuck E. Cheese's promo rewards cute kid pics

IRVING Texas Looking for new ways to drive sales, Chuck E. Cheese’s has teamed up with the Coca-Cola Co., Snapfish.com and Beaches Resorts for the “Where A Kid Can Be A Kid” photo contest.

The 542-unit pizza restaurant and entertainment center chain owned by CEC Entertainment Inc. and its co-sponsors are offering shutterbugs with cute kid pics a chance to win merchandise and a family vacation.

The new promotion is named for Chuck E. Cheese’s marketing tagline and is designed to build membership in the chain’s online and e-mail “Chuck E-Club” loyalty program, engage existing members and garner additional website traffic. It is to do that, organizers indicated, by letting E-Club members compete for prizes for photos illustrating “favorite moments in a kid’s life,” and by giving consumers who vote for their favorite image a chance to instantly win prizes. Those instant prizes will include digital cameras from Snapfish, an online photo storage presentation site, and Chuck E. Cheese’s gift certificates.

Now through April 12, visitors to the Irving-based chain’s website who register for the E-Club at http://www.chuckecheese.com can upload their thematic photos. From April 25 to May 11, site visitors will vie for instant prizes by voting for their favorite photos from a group selected by a panel of qualified judges, chain representative said. They added that anyone who registers for the Chuck E-Club during one of those visits will immediately receive promotional offers.

The image receiving the most votes wins for its photographer a “Luxury Included” family vacation at a Beaches Resorts property.

“Those fun moments in a child’s life are very special, and parents capture them so frequently nowadays, we are now rewarding them for it,” said Brenda Holloway, a spokeswoman for Chuck E. Cheese’s parent company CEC Entertainment Inc.

For its most recent fourth quarter ended Dec. 28, CEC reported same-store sales fell 1.5 percent. For the full year, however, same-store sales were up 2.3 percent, CEC said.

CEC operates about 90 percent of its 542 restaurants and franchises the rest to others.
