Pizza Hut offers computer widget for ordering

DALLAS Pizza Hut on Monday unveiled a computer application, or widget, that allows customers to place orders directly from their computer desktops.

The widget is called the “Pizza Hut Shortcut,” and the company says future versions will allow customers to check out the chain's latest deals and to be notified of specials in their area.

“More and more customers are finding that ordering from our website is fast and easy,” said Brian Niccol, chief marketing officer for Pizza Hut. “Now with the Pizza Hut Shortcut, we are taking our customer focus to the next level with the fastest way to place an order in the national pizza chain category.”

Users need to register online at www.pizzahut.com/pizzahutshortcut to download the application. Once installed on their computer, Shortcut allows orders to be placed with a few clicks of the mouse.

Pizza Hut introduced online ordering in 1994 and made the service available nationally in 2007. The company also uses text-message ordering via cell phone.

Pizza Hut Inc. is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands Inc. It has more than 6,200 restaurants in the United States and more than 4,000 restaurants in 100 other countries.
