The remodeled Jackson, Miss., Newk’s Eatery unit debuted on Tuesday.

Newk’s co-founder and CEO Chris Newcomb said Newk’s condiment table remains in the newly remodeled story, providing a diversion for guests as they wait for their orders and allowing them to customize their meals.

A six-foot case and two separate to-go registers serve customers patronizing the six-foot Newk’s Express Market case with such protein offeringsas seared ahi tuna slices and char-grilled salmon as well as a variety of salads, soups and signature items like pimiento cheese and chicken salad (available in 8, 16 and 32-ounce sizes). Sandwiches, salads, bottled dressings and four flavors of Newk’s Dozen-Layer Cake slices.

Coinciding with the debut of the new Newk’s Eater look, the brand is rolling out a new tagline — “Feed What Matters” — which is featured prominently on a brick wall of the restaurant and ties into the brand’s work to raise money for ovarian cancer research and awereness.

Newk’s is introducing a new bundled marketing program of “Four for $24” that features a special menu from which four items can be selected for larger meals.

The remodeled Newk’s Eatery’s order counter features new freshness messaging in the soffit, the signature open kitchen and lies within the six to eight feet of the door for the guests’ convenience.

A Newk’s Eatery franchisee came up with the idea of adding a dessert and beverage case near the order counter. In the past, some Newk’s units had ice bins near the registers “where we would put ice-cold beer and bottled drinks,” founder and CEO Chris Newcomb said. “It was an operational problem. It didn’t sell, because people didn’t want a wet bottle.” The refrigerated dessert and beverage case near the register also motivates impulse purchases, he added.

New uniforms were introduced to the kitchen team, including cooler short-sleeved red and black chef’s coats, with the remodeling program. Team members are, from left: Jazmyn Jackson, Daria Gustavos, Allen Geoghagan (red jacket), Terrence Lewis (yellow shirt), Alexia Taylor and Kendra Limas.

Easier-to-read menu boards replaced vertical versions in the remodeled Jackson, Miss., unit, and they were raised to eye height to make it easer for customers.
