Monty Moran — author, leadership expert and former co-CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill — will deliver a keynote address at CREATE: The Future of Foodservice, a new live event from Nation’s Restaurant News this October in Denver.
In an Oct. 5 keynote titled, “Love is Free. Guac is Extra: How to Empower Employees & Build a Connected Culture,” Moran, who shepherded Chipotle through a period of rapid growth, will share how to build a strong culture and encourage leadership throughout the organization.
Moran will headline the second day of the three-day event, which brings together leading foodservice professionals face to face following a yearlong series of CREATE virtual programming on leadership and business strategy.
“We are thrilled to welcome Monty Moran to the inaugural CREATE live event to share his expertise on building and empowering strong teams at a time when labor concerns have never been more pressing,” said Sam Oches, Nation’s Restaurant News editorial director. “The challenges of the last year underscored the importance of getting the fundamentals of business right. Monty’s insights on culture and leadership come at the perfect time for an industry looking to rebuild stronger than ever.”
Monty Moran was co-CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill from 2009 to 2016, and helped the brand grow to thousands of locations across the country. Since stepping down from the company, he has explored the topics of leadership and human connection through filmmaking and writing. His book, “Love is Free. Guac is Extra: How Vulnerability, Empowerment and Curiosity Built an Unstoppable Team,” was released late last year.
CREATE, which will be held at the newly renovated Sheraton Denver Downtown, is a unique festival-style event where restaurant leaders from the largest chains to the most innovative independents come to learn, discover and advance their careers and businesses. The in-person event follows months of CREATE digital experiences featuring business and leadership insights from top industry executives.
CREATE attendees will have access to interactive discussions with industry leaders, lightning keynotes, tech demo kiosks, pop-up food stations, and plenty of opportunities for meaningful connections with industry peers.
New speakers and events are being added all the time. Visit the CREATE event site to learn more and register to attend.
