Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls, the 30-unit fast-casual brand, plans to open its 30th location — and its first abroad — in Milan, Italy, this week, the company said Wednesday.
The Annapolis, Md.-based fast-casual company will feature Maine lobster rather than the traditional European langostino lobster, the company said.
"Our entrance into the European market represents a significant milestone for Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls," said Dan Beck, founder and CEO of Mason's, in a statement.
"The response from our customers abroad has been incredible, and they specifically appreciate the unmatched quality of Maine lobster, celebrated for its fine texture and rich flavor,” Beck said. “Our Milan location is just the beginning of our plans to expand throughout Europe.”
Located at Via Torino, 73, Mason's Milan features classic lobster rolls, but with local twists that include Campari, the bitter liqueur, and a new lobster roll Diavolo with Nduja sauce, a spicy pork sausage from the Calabria region of Italy.
Mason's was founded in 2014 by Dan Beck, a former seafood restaurant buyer who cultivated relationships with Maine lobstermen.
Mason's, a franchised concept since 2016, has 29 units in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
