TGI Fridays, McDonald’s, Original Harold’s Chicken

TGI Fridays’ UK franchisee closed 36 restaurants and sold the remaining 51 locations on Monday. It was part of the company’s administration process, which is the UK equivalent of bankruptcy.

McDonald’s is accusing beef suppliers of collusion. The fast-food giant has sued a bunch of beef suppliers, including Cargill, Tyson, JBS and National Beef Packing Company, accusing them of working together since 2015 to drive up the price of beef.

Another Chapter 11 bankruptcy has hit the restaurant industry, this time from Original Harold’s Chicken of Nevada. The company operates restaurants in North Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada, and it is part of Chicago staple Harold’s Chicken Shack, founded in 1950.

Glenn Lunde, the former CEO of Togo’s Eateries, has been named CEO of Yoshinoya America. The Japan-based quick-service chain — which claims to be one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1899 — has about 2,000 units globally, but Yoshinoya America has about 100 units in California.
