DALLAS Bennigan’s Franchising Co. LP, which is overseeing the 130-unit Bennigan’s Grill and Tavern system, has hired Benjamin Nemo of Scorpio Ventures of Atlanta as a brand and marketing consultant.
Nemo implemented Popeyes’ recent brand positioning. He also has held marketing positions at Burger King Corp. and Marriott International.
Vince Runco, the interim chief executive of Bennigan’s Franchising, said that Nemo’s “experience, ideas and ability to work with our franchisees will be critical as we work to take the Bennigan’s brand into the future.”
The company said Nemo would focus initially on developing the brand positioning for Bennigan’s, as well as developing menu strategies, a comprehensive marketing campaign and ways to enhance the customer experience.
In late October, a U.S. bankruptcy court approved Atalaya Capital Management’s acquisition of Bennigan’s Franchising Co. LP, including the company’s equity, trademarks and other assets.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Sherman is working through the Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation filings by a number of subsidiaries of Metromedia Restaurant Group, which abruptly closed its company-owned Bennigan’s and Steak & Ale units with the filing in July.
