An In-N-Out Burger in Livermore, Calif., reopened on Friday after a temporary closure, following reports that some guests had fallen ill after visiting last week.
Alameda County health officials reportedly suspected norovirus in the incident, which included members of a college softball team who ate at the restaurant on May 6, and suffered severe gastroenteritis. The unit closed voluntarily on May 9, in accordance with safety protocols.
Denny Warnick, In-N-Out Burger’s vice president of operations, said in a statement that the restaurant has been cleaned and disinfected, and staff members have been screened.
“We are confident that our customers are safe to dine with us,” Warnick said. “We apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may have caused. At In-N-Out Burger, the health and well-being of our customers is a top priority.”
It’s unclear how many customers reported symptoms. County health officials did not immediately respond to requests for more information.
