Tijuana Flats Restaurants LLC, the 125-unit Tex-Mex chain, on Thursday debuted what it calls its “Turnt Up” look at a new unit in Orlando, Fla.
The Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based fast-casual chain’s new restaurant features a new furniture package with butcher-block tables, banquette seating and booths as well as new wall finishes and sealed concrete flooring.
The restaurant, which opened Thursday at The Mall at Millenia in Orlando, covers 2,448 square feet and offers 86 seats inside and 24 at picnic tables on the outdoor patio.
“We’re ecstatic to showcase this ‘Turnt Up’ look at our new Millenia location,” said Larry Ryback, Tijuana Flats CEO, in a statement. “Our team is proud of the creative elements and attention to detail put into this restaurant.”
The details include the continuation of Tijuana Flat’s localized wall murals, customized to each location, that feature jalapeno luchador wrestlers.
Various ceiling tiles also get the local art treatment.
A company spokeswoman said the new design elements will be included in new stores opening in the first quarter of 2017, including locations in the Florida communities of Champions Gale, Celebration and St. Augustine.
In addition, the restaurant has occupancy sensors and time clocks to conserve energy throughout the building, the company said.
The first Tijuana Flats opened in 1995 in Winter Park, Fla., and the company now has locations in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
