Brita Rosenheim is seeking the technology solutions that will drive the food industry of tomorrow.
She is a partner in Better Food Ventures, an investment firm that seeks to identify and develop companies that use technology to improve the performance of the food and agriculture industries. Better Food Ventures believes the food industry needs to more fully embrace technologies such as mobile and cloud-based systems, robotics and artificial intelligence, location identification and image recognition, real-time data analytics and more.
As the principal of Rosenheim Advisors, Rosenheim has advised start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors and institutions about the food-tech industry landscape. Among her recent activities in the restaurant space, she led the sell-side efforts on behalf of QuickOrder, an online ordering platform that was acquired by Pizza Hut.
She is also known for her insightful commentary on the industry through her speaking engagements and her Food Tech State-of-the-Industry Reports that help operators and investors navigate the crowded space. Her most recent report, for example, highlighted opportunities in conversational technologies such as Apprente, the voice-ordering system acquired in September by McDonald’s, and other voice-based technologies for both the front and back of the house.
Other opportunities she identified include tech platforms that serve the corporate lunch segments, citing their efficiencies relative to single-order home deliveries. Examples include Sweetgreen’s Outpost concept, which places pickup stations in office buildings.
