Cracker Barrel names new chief people officer

Beverly K. Carmichael succeeds Doug Barber in the role

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. has named Beverly K. Carmichael as its chief people officer, the family-dining company said this week.

Carmichael succeeds Doug Barber, who has retired from the company, said the Lebanon, Tenn.-based Cracker Barrel, which has 72,000 employees in 42 states. She will be responsible for Cracker Barrel’s human resources, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing and retaining employees.

Carmichael most recently was with Frisco, Texas-based Star HR LLC, which she founded and served as president. She has also held executive human resources and employee relations positions with Southwest Airlines and Ticketmaster.

“With her years of HR leadership experience, Beverly has a deep understanding of the importance of the employee experience and maintaining a strong brand and company culture,” said Sandra B. Cochran, Cracker Barrel president and chief executive, in a statement.

Carmichael has served as adjunct professor and advisor in the master’s of business administration program in the Price College of Business for the University of Oklahoma and serves on the advisory board in the communication studies program at Southern Methodist University.
 
Cracker Barrel, founded in 1969, owns and operates 626 locations.
