Arthur Valdez has been named Starbucks’ executive vice president, Global Supply and Customer Services. According to his bio on the company’s website, he brings more than 30 years of experience in the operational supply chain and logistics industry, most recently serving as EVP and chief supply chain and logistics officer at Target.
He retired from Target in the fall of 2022 after serving in his position for seven years.
According to Seeking Alpha, Valdez will assume his new role July 31 and will lead Starbucks’ global supply chain and customer solutions strategies.
Like much of the industry, Starbucks has experienced supply chain disruptions throughout the past few years. The company has experienced shortages of everything from espresso to breakfast sandwiches to lids.
Valdez graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in production operations management and serves on the Global Leadership Council of the Colorado State University School of Business and the board of directors for Advance Auto Parts, Inc.
