Robert Morgan has been named president and CEO of the healthful fast-casual Muscle Maker Grill chain, the company said Thursday.
Morgan has served as chief operating officer for Colonia, N.J.-based Muscle Maker since 2007, when the brand began franchising.
He is a 40-year veteran of the foodservice industry. Prior to joining Muscle Maker, he held positions at Pizza Hut/PepsiCo Corp. and owned Pizza Hut, Papa John’s and Golden Corral franchised units in Louisiana, New England and the Midwest, respectively.
He also helped Muscle Maker grow to 60 units in 11 states, with more units in development, the company said.
Earlier this year, Muscle Maker was acquired by American Restaurant Holdings Inc., based in Irvine, Calif.
Tim Betts, CEO of American Restaurant Holdings, said, “Since Bob joined the Muscle Maker Grill family, his enthusiastic involvement in every aspect of the business — from operations and human resources to marketing — has been invaluable to the brand. His vast experience in the restaurant industry, strong leadership and knowledge of the brand have driven this company to the successful operation that it is today.
“Under his leadership, Muscle Maker Grill will continue its growth trajectory by working closely with our franchisees and opening more corporate-owned locations in new and existing markets,” Betts continued. “We’re happy to have him behind the wheel.”
