Quiznos is consolidating its operations and marketing divisions under two newly created global positions, and has promoted two executives, the company said Friday.
George Jeffrey, the Denver-based fast-casual chain’s former chief operating officer of Quiznos Canada since 2009, has been named global chief operating officer and will lead all global operations, the company said.
Susan Lintonsmith, previously Quiznos chief marketing officer for the U.S., has been appointed global chief marketing officer.
Lintonsmith was appointed domestic CMO in 2012, and has led the sandwich chain’s transition from traditional media to a greater focus on digital and social media. She has also spearheaded work on improving and simplifying the chain’s U.S. menu, the company said.
“As we look to the future growth of Quiznos, we’re first and foremost committed to ensuring existing restaurants and franchisees thrive. Susan and George bring the tenacity and capabilities necessary to align global efforts and return Quiznos to its rightful place as the leader in the premium hot sandwich category,” Doug Pendergast, Quiznos president and CEO, said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Quiznos reworked its supply chain model; launched a new, simplified menu; and rolled out a new point-of-sale system to improve franchisee sales and profit.
Quiznos has been growing internationally as domestic locations declined. The chain has pledged to reach more than 1,000 international locations in more than 40 countries by 2020. At the end of 2014, the brand had about 650 units outside the U.S.
The domestic count, however, has shrunk considerably. According to the Second 100 census by Nation’s Restaurant News, Quiznos’ U.S. unit count declined to 985 locations in fiscal 2014, from 1,419 units the prior year.
