Tropical Smoothie Cafe has named Barry Schnur its new chief financial and administrative officer, the company said Wednesday.
The Atlanta-based café-and-smoothie concept said Schnur succeeds Tim Tanguay, who left as CFO to take the same role at Orangetheory Fitness.
Schnur will oversee Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s financial functions, as well as develop and implement technology initiatives for the franchise system, the company said.
“Barry’s extensive technology background and experience leading software companies makes him a valuable addition to our executive team,” Mike Rotondo, Tropical Smoothie Cafe CEO, said in a statement. Rotondo said the brand is introducing such technology initiatives as a new mobile ordering and payment app and a new café management tool.

Prior to joining Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Schnur was senior vice president of customer success at IgnitionOne, a provider of cloud-based digital marketing and advertising technology. He also has served on the executive team at Silverpop, an Atlanta-based, software-as-a-service digital marketing provider, where he was senior vice president of operations.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe, founded in 1997, has more than 480 locations nationwide. It was acquired by BIP Opportunities Fund LP in 2012.
The chain said it saw same-store sales growth of more than 11 percent in fiscal 2015.
In the 2015, Nation’s Restaurant News’ Second 100 census ranked Tropical Smoothie Cafe as the No. 7 fastest-growing chain. The company saw domestic systemwide sales grow 23.2 percent in the prior year.
