Big digital moves from Chipotle, Popeyes, Taco Bell, White Castle, KFC

Earlier this month, Chipotle Mexican Grill launched an in-app promotion, offering free burritos for a year to loyalty members who can correctly predict the final score before the scheduled start time of a designated professional sports game.

After the first week, the Newport Beach, Calif.-based fast-casual chain is tweaking the rules of the game to make it easier on fans. Now to enter, fans can simply enter their prediction for the winning city as their entrée name when ordering for delivery. During this gamification promotion, all delivery orders of $10 or more are free when ordered through the brand’s app or website.

Taco Bell is luring people to its app by giving away Xbox Series X bundles before the new console launches nationwide. Starting Sept. 24, customers who purchase any medium or large drink on the app or in-store will receive a code on their cup for a chance to win the new bundle.

Fans who download the brand’s revamped app by Sept. 13 will gain exclusive access to daily prizes for drawings conducted Sept. 15 through Sept. 21.

Popeyes is launching this week the “Love That Game” giveaway, where customers have a chance to win at-home tailgating gear when they buy a medium drink.

The grand prize is a $15,000 home theater package that includes a 65-inch Smart TV, a $9,000 check to pay for at-home viewing necessities and a $2,000 gift card to use to buy a new couch.

Other prizes include: a $750 tailgate package that includes games like cornhole, giant wooden block stacking game, a football and a Bluetooth speaker; and $15 to $100 promotional codes to purchase Popeyes food.
The game runs Sept. 14 through Oct. 25.

El Pollo Loco recently debuted a new and improved app and loyalty program. Consumers can earn more points when making purchases. Curbside pickup using geo-fencing technology will also be available nationwide later this month.

Outside the app, the chain continues to offer free delivery on orders made through Postmates. The brand said it promises to keep this unprecedented offer ongoing “however long is necessary.”

In September, El Pollo Loco loyalty users can earn double points when they order from the brand's new line of L.A. Mex Burritos. The limited-time burrito line includes a keto-friendly burrito, shown. The Keto Certified burrito ($6.99) features a high-fiber, low-carb tortilla stuffed with grilled chicken, avocado, organic spinach and shredded red cabbage.

Kentucky Fried Chicken is now offering delivery with DoorDash at 3,000 stores, which represents about 75% of all U.S. restaurants.

To celebrate the new partnership, customers will receive 12 free chicken tenders with the purchase of select KFC bucket

White Castle launched this month a new mobile app and loyalty program. Fans who register will receive a free combo meal plus more than $10 worth of additional savings to use in the month of September, the company said.

Ike’s Love & Sandwiches is offering free delivery in September for sandwich orders made on the brand’s app. The 77-unit San Francisco-based chain typically charges from $3.99 to $7.99 for in-house delivery.

Additionally, Ike’s is selling two different sandwiches every Tuesday in September for $6 each. Both 8-inch sandwiches are normally priced at about $10.
