Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will be adding a new chicken wing flavor Aug. 26 with the addition of Sweet ‘N Smokey Chipotle to its menu, the company said Friday.
The Miami-based division of Restaurant Brands International Inc. said the new variation features chicken wings coated in chipotle chilies and finished with a hint of honey for sweetness. Popeyes’ six-piece wings start at $5.99, a spokesperson said.
Popeyes permanently added wings to its menu in November 2023.
To promote the new flavor as the football season begins, Popeyes is offering free six-piece wings addition to any $10 minimum purchase Aug. 26 to Sept. 8.
Popeyes wings are currently offered in barbecue, roasted garlic-parmesan, Signature Hot, ghost pepper, honey-lemon pepper and Sweet 'N Spicy flavors.
“Football is all about bringing people together, and at Popeyes, we believe that great food is at the heart of those moments,” Bart LaCount, Popeyes U.S. and Canada chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
“With our new Sweet ‘N Smokey Chipotle Wings and our commitment to being The Official Wing of Watching Football, we're making it easier than ever for fans to enjoy the game with a flavor-packed spread that’s sure to be the MVP of any gathering,” LaCount said.
Popeyes, founded in 1972, has more than 4,000 restaurants in the U.S. and around the world.
