White Castle launches uniform collection with fashion label Telfar

“We wanted something special for our 100^th birthday that captures the authentic spirit of White Castle and, as always, Telfar came through for us,” said Jamie Richardson, a vice president at White Castle. “Telfar has taken our uniform to a new place, creating something that’s distinctive, attractive and comfortable, and something our team members will feel great in whether they’re at work or hanging out with friends and family.”

Pieces in the new uniform include a T-shirt, polo shirt, apron, visor and durag, all in light blue, royal blue or black.

The marketing campaign for the collection features real team members from several New York City locations including the No. 2 and 3 stores in the Bronx, No. 7 in Bayside, Queens and No. 18 in Sunnyside, Queens. The new collection was shot by art photographer Elliott Jerome Brown Jr.

The collection for sale includes hats, hoodies and T-shirts that feature a mashup of White Castle’s and Telfar’s logos. Proceeds from this line will be donated to the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Liberty and Justice Fund, which provides bail to imprisoned minors.

Helmed by Telfar Clemens, Telfar has become a brand of note in both the New York and international fashion scenes for its desirable handbags.

White Castle and Telfar first connected in 2015 at New York Fashion Week when Clemens asked the brand to be a sponsor for Telfar’s show. That sponsorship led to several more collaborations, including the design of the team’s new uniforms in 2017 and three subsequent team member uniforms.

“White Castle supported us before our success and we consider them family,” said Babak Radboy, Telfar’s creative director, in a statement. “Their team would serve sliders backstage at all our shows and were basically part of our team. It’s still the only thing open after midnight in Telfar’s hood — seeing our uniforms there means something to us, and so we take it personally.”

“This is a special friendship between a 100-year-old food business and a 15-year-old fashion house,” Richardson said. “We have genuine reverence for Telfar’s vision and originality, and more importantly, we believe working together provides us the opportunity to make the world a better place.”
