Torchy’s Tacos

Torchy’s Tacos, a chain based in Austin, Texas, with more than 60 location in Colo., Okla., and Texas, celebrated National Margarita Day, Feb. 22 with the Scallywag Margarita — a frozen cocktail made with tequila, triple sec and habanero jam in a glass with a rim of Cap’n Crunch cereal and coconut. It was served with its Taco of the Month made with coconut-battered shrimp, bacon, green chiles, Jack cheese, pickled onions, cilantro and peach-habanero jam on a flour tortilla.

Zeppelin Hall

Mardi Gras is supposed to be a time to indulge before Lent, when many Americans abstain from meat on Friday, but Zeppelin Hall, a beer garden in Jersey City, N.J., nonetheless highlighted seafood with New Orleans-inspired dishes such as po’ boy sandwiches and seafood gumbo.

Tokio Pub, a concept by Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, celebrated Mardi Gras with the Crazy Cajun Roll made with shrimp tempura, spicy crawfish, cucumber and lime zest.

Camarones Apasionados — passionate shrimp — were a special Valentine’s Day item at Fonda, a three-unit chain in New York City. It’s grilled shrimp with passion fruit, guajillo adobo sauce and sweet potato-pineapple mash.
