CARPINTERIA Calif. Carl’s Jr. is channeling The Sopranos in ads for its new Parmesan Chicken Sandwich, which debuted Wednesday.
The sandwich features an Italian-American-style crispy breaded chicken filet topped with melted cheese and marinara sauce on a sesame-seed bun for a suggested $3.99, or $6.49 as part of a combination meal.
The advertising supporting the new product features a Parmesan Chicken Sandwich-eating guy who outwits two burley hit men by leading them to believe he has already been “hit,” as it appears by the look of his marinara-stained shirt.
Next week, Carl’s Jr. plans to launch a Facebook quiz allowing fans to answer mob-related questions to determine which infamous “made guy” they are most like.
Carl’s Jr., a subsidiary of Carpinteria, Calif.-based CKE Restaurants Inc., operates or franchises 1,212 restaurants.
