MINNEAPOLIS Dairy Queen plans to standardize its hot dogs with the July 1 rollout of a new, all-beef version to domestic units of the quick-service chain and an upscale variation, DQ Grill & Chill.
The new hot dog will be priced at $2, according to franchisor International Dairy Queen.
"Summer is the prime time for us to introduce a new hot dog," said Michael Keller, IDQ's chief brand officer. "Our research indicates high consumer preference for a high quality, all-beef dog."
Many Dairy Queen units already offer hot dogs, but in a variety of types. IDQ said the chain sold more than 30 million hot dogs in 2005.
