Responding to the growing popularity of non-carbonated beverages, Firehouse Subs now is offering its cherry limeade in the self-serve fountains of all of the chain’s 374 locations in 19 states.
The drink, a nostalgic throwback to the founder’s childhood thirst-quencher of choice, has been available at units in the chain’s hometown of Jacksonville, Fla., since Firehouse’s first location opened. But until recently the drink was offered only at 30 locations in that Florida city and two others — Ocala and Gainesville.
The company suggests that guests start with ice and add fresh squeezed lime that’s available by the fountains, then top it off with the company’s cherry limeade from the dispenser. But Melissa Simpson, communications coordinator for Firehouse of America, said guests are more than welcome to put together the drinks any way they like.
The beverage is available in a 12-ounce kids size as well as 22- and 32-ounce serving sizes.
