SHERMAN OAKS Calif. Gearing up for a national franchising push, the Red Mango frozen yogurt chain said Thursday it has named James Franks vice president of franchising.
In the newly created position, Franks will oversee a franchise development team that will lead the brand’s expansion in Texas, California, Washington State, New York and Massachusetts. He will work at the Red Mango Franchising Co.’s offices in Dallas.
Franks was previously a director of franchising for the Baskin-Robbins ice cream brand, where he helped secure 350 new franchise agreements and 200 transfers of existing units over three years. Prior to that, he held development positions for other foodservice, hair care and automotive brands.
The 43-unit Red Mango chain, based in Sherman Oaks, Calif., has units in California, New York, Washington, Illinois, Hawaii, New Jersey, Nevada and Utah. About three-quarters of the units are franchise locations. Roughly 40 new units are expected to open this year, mostly franchised, officials said.
