This year’s Elliot Awards program gave way to a festive event featuring a cocktail reception, dinner and candle-lighting ceremony.
Kicking off the official program was senior editor at large for Fortune magazine, Geoffrey Colvin. Three award recipients also were honored during the event, which stretched into the wee hours. Receiving the Elliot Award, which is presented in only rare instances, was Clarence Otis, chief executive for Darden Restaurants. Previous recipients include Norman Brinker of Brinker International and the late Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s International.
This year’s mentor award went to Edna Morris, chief executive of Genshai Ollin and partner in Range Restaurant Group. Linda Traylor, senior vice president of human resources for Buffalo Wild Wings, was honored with the 20th Annual Elliot Motivator of the Year Award. The award was presented to Traylor by Buffalo Wild Wing’s chief executive Sally Smith.
