NEW YORK Celebrity chef Todd English has inked a deal with the Elad Group, the owner-developer of The Plaza Hotel to create The Plaza Food Hall, a gourmet food court featuring fresh and prepared foods for sit-down dining or purchase.
The Plaza Food Hall by Todd English is a 5,400-square-foot upscale food court, and its concepts, menus, service details and specialty merchandise will be created and operated under the direction of English and his company, TE Food Hall LLC.
“I’m delighted to be collaborating with The Plaza to bring a truly unique concept to this landmark building,” English said in a statement this week. “I look forward to bringing some of the finest foods from around the world to The Plaza for guests to enjoy.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Plaza recently underwent a three-year $450 million renovation and reopened for business last year. Delaware North Cos., a contract foodservice company, operates and manages the property’s foodservice and facilities management in partnership with Great Performances, an upscale catering company based in lower Manhattan.
The new food hall will feature eight food stations, including a wine bar with domestic and international selections as well as a menu of small plates and Mediterranean tapas; a cheese and charcuterie kiosk offering artisanal and farmstead cheeses, cured meats, smoked fish, caviars and olives; a full sushi and raw bar featuring an assortment of rolls, sashimi and sushi; a burger bar and rotisserie that will sell made-to-order carved meat sandwiches and roast chicken with gourmet sides; an Asian noodle and dumpling bar; an espresso and tea bar; a brick-oven pizza station; and a fish and seafood grill offering a fresh catch of the day, which can be prepared and packaged for use at home or grilled to order on the premises.
Retail items, such as olives, olive oils, artisan jams and sauces as well as cookware, linens and home goods, will be available for purchase.
