MIAMI Burger King Corp. has added a list of all-stars to its franchisee roster after a group of investors including professional football and basketball players acquired 18 restaurants in the Virginia cities of Norfolk and Richmond.
The athletes, investors in a newly formed company called Ramsell Dining LLC, include Marcus Allen, a professional football Hall of Famer, Caron Butler of the NBA’s Washington Wizards, Donnie Edwards of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, Kevin Faulk of the NFL’s New England Patriots and Michael Strahan of the NFL’s New York Giants.
George Miller, a vice president of Burger King’s northwest region for 13 years, is operating partner and chief executive of Ramsell Dining.
Butler of the Washington Wizards said he worked at Burger King as a teenager and that investing in the brand “represents not only a great investment opportunity, but also a chance to build on the success of minority-owned franchises."
