Pieology, the 130-unit fast-casual pizza concept, has named Bijan Sami as chief operations and information officer, the company said Wednesday.
The Tustin, Calif.-based Pieology said Sami will be responsible for leading both the global operations and technology roadmap for the company.
“Bijan brings a wealth of leadership and operating experience, along with the critical technical knowledge we need to continue our global growth and expansion,” said Gregg Imamoto, Pieology’s CEO, in a statement. “It goes without saying that Bijan’s full spectrum of restaurant systems expertise will be a great addition to the Pieology team.”
Sami, left, spent the past 17 years with Luna Grill, from its first location to 52 units. He served in a variety of leadership roles, from chief operating officer to chief procurement officer.
Prior to Luna Grill, Sami worked in the semiconductor industry, with such brands like Qualcomm, Ericsson, Nokia and Conexant.
“This is a wonderful opportunity and I’m absolutely thrilled to join this incredible brand,” Sami said. “I’m looking forward to working hands-on with franchisees, team members within our restaurants and all Pieology stakeholders as we continue our momentum and growth for the company.”
Pieology was founded in 2011 and acquired the competing Project Pie fast-casual pizza brand in 2016.
